Laurel Potter Huerta

Project Manager, Programs & Technology Initiatives

Laurel Potter Huerta joined the WDN staff in 2006. She is WDN’s Project Manager for Programs and Technology Initiatives and manages a variety of projects, including the development of WDN’s web and print materials.

Laurel graduated from UC Berkeley with degrees in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. She has a wide range of experience in the field of education, in the United States and internationally. Laurel spent her post-college years working and studying in Brazil and Spain, becoming fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese. She completed graduate coursework in the Department of Education for the University of Barcelona and conducted field research on low-income children’s educational experiences and progressive education policy in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Additionally, she has collaborated on a variety of research projects for the University of Barcelona, including a study on childhood and subjectivity and a study on the use of technology in the classroom.

Her experience also includes serving as a Director of Teacher Training and Development for a language school consortium in Rio de Janeiro. Prior to joining the Women Donors Network, Laurel worked as an educational consultant in the Silicon Valley, as a freelance translator, and as a consultant for a multicultural children’s book project about environmental leaders.
